Short Bio

Armed with an MA, International Relations, a BS, Business Management, and a Certificate in Equine Management, Warren W. Van Overbeke, a Native Minnesotan now living in West Michigan, crafts heartfelt, multi-generational women’s fiction that explores identity, resilience, and the quiet moments that change everything. Warren's storytelling centers on layered, emotionally resonant novels about family, legacy, and the unspoken truths that shape who we become. His work blends the warmth of Midwestern storytelling with the emotional depth of multi-generational women’s fiction, exploring how love, loss, forgiveness, and identity can weave across decades.

Before turning to writing, he served as a U.S. Air Force Officer, sustaining injuries during combat that ended his military career, but provided experience that shaped not only his worldview but also his understanding of resilience, loyalty, service, and the weight of unspoken burden, qualities that often find their way into his characters.

Beyond writing, he finds solace in horseback riding, taking care of his wife's ToDo list, researching his ancestry, and spending time with family.

Long Bio

W. W. Van Overbeke writes the kind of stories that stay with readers long after the last page—layered, emotionally resonant novels about family, legacy, and the unspoken truths that shape who we become. His work blends the warmth of Midwestern storytelling with the emotional depth of multi-generational women’s fiction, exploring how love, loss, forgiveness, and identity can weave across decades.

Born and raised in North Saint Paul, Minnesota and now living in West Michigan, Van Overbeke draws inspiration from quiet landscapes, small towns, and the complicated, beautiful ways people connect. Before turning to writing, he served as a U.S. Air Force officer, sustaining injuries during combat that ended his military career, and shaped not only his worldview but also his understanding of resilience, loyalty, service, and the weight of unspoken burdens, qualities that often find their way into his characters.

His second novel, The Ripples We Cannot Contain, moves between the late 1960s and early 2000s as it follows a family wrestling with secrets, identity, grief, and second chances. With a style reminiscent of Kristin Hannah, Jodi Picoult, and Ann Patchett, Van Overbeke writes fiction that leans into emotional honesty and quiet strength, revealing how the past remains alive in the present and how going home can be both shattering and redemptive.

When he’s not writing, he can often be found exploring Michigan’s lakeshores, enjoying time with his family, or listening to stories from readers who have found pieces of their own lives reflected in his novels. He believes deeply in the power of story; to heal, to connect, and to remind us that even in our hardest seasons, we are never truly alone.
